APPEARANCE

EYES: Skyblade's eyes are a deep turquoise and slightly rounder than most elves, though still distinctly almond shaped.

HAIR: Skyblade's hair is a dark blond and he keeps it trimmed about shoulder length.

FACIAL FEATURES: Skyblade has a longer face with strong angles. His eyebrows are light like his hair but very expressive. Most times he wears an impassive expression, acutely aware but unwilling to betray details about his feelings. Displays of happiness or anger are rare but strong when encountered. Though still relatively young, his face is sometimes creased with lines that make him seem much older.

VOICE: Skyblade has a soft but commanding tenor voice. It carries well, particularly over the sounds of battle and is as honed for singing as his blades are for cutting.

TATTOOS/BIRTHMARKS/SCARS: Skyblade is covered in Tattoos. Over Skyblade's left eye is a shooting star that starts just above the bridge of his nose and the tail reaches to his temple. A pair of griffon's wings wraps around the back of his neck. Over his left shoulder is a pouncing white tiger and over his right is a pouncing panther. Covering the majority of Skyblade's back is a giant oak tree whose roots extend beneath the waist of his pantaloons. Skyblade's left arm bears a full depiction of dragons soaring in the air and destroying the denizens of the ground, Skyblade's right arm depicts an elf perched on the head of a fallen dragon, the elf's longsword plunged into the top of the dragon's head. On the top of both of Skyblade's hands are celtic knots in the shape of kite shields.

HEIGHT/BUILD: Skyblade stands 6'0" even. He has a lithe form tightly packed with muscles, making him quite strong and yet extremely graceful all in the same breath. Much of Skyblade's free time is spent training and running to keep himself into shape. A number of blade dance routines also help to keep the Bladesinger keen.

PERSONALITY: Skyblade's serious demeanor and high standards earn him the haughty reputation of his house. Skyblade is truly softhearted though, and Skyblade rarely looks down on other houses, even those many others find distasteful, such as Vassal Song. Skyblade is not so tolerant of House Darksong though, finding their ways demeaning to elves, only reluctantly admitting to their necessity. Skyblade has a love of the arts that rivals the members of House Harmony and also has a deep interest in Descantia's past.

POSSESSIONS

REGULAR CLOTHING: Skyblade typically wears only a pair of tool tanned leather breeches. His bracers cover his forearms and his longblades hang by his sides, but he otherwise finds little need for no more clothing, weather permitting. During winter, or in serious rainstorms, Skyblade will don a cloak of cured leather or fur.

CELEBRATION CLOTHING: At ceremonies and celebrations, Skyblade wears loose, silk silver leggings and soft, honey leather boots. He wears his bracers and weapons as usual.

JEWELRY: Skyblade wears a pair of minute silver hoops near the tip of each ear as well as a snake's tooth which hangs from a leather thong about his neck. A small ring of silver encloses his left middle finger. The ring is designed to appear as a tiny sword with musical notes etched along the blade.

WEAPONS/ITEMS: Skyblade's favored weapons are a pair of custom longsblades. They are single edged weapons, the blade of which begins straight and curves out slightly to enhance slashing effects. The grips are made of carved honey wood and the silver pommels form an outstretched wing. The flat of both blades are etched with the beginning of an old blade song: "For the clan, for freedom, for house and hearth is my fight." Skyblade wears a pair of leather bracers that extend from his elbow to his wrist. Affixed to the back of each bracer is a plate of stylized mithral and part of each piece extends to protect the back of Skyblade's hands as well.

HISTORY

Skyblade was born to Leafbreeze of House Harmony and Steelsoul of House Blade Song. From both his parents, but mostly his mother, he inherited a love of art and music, and from his father he inherited skill with a blade and a drive to excel. It was seen from his beginning that he would become a great Bladesinger. He began his training at an early age. Skyblade worked hard under the Master Blade Singer, the late Hardfoot, Softsong's father, and developed an outward sense of deep intensity. It was his apprenticeship with her father that brought about his strong friendship with Softsong. When Hardfoot was killed, Skyblade was both distraught and angry, but he did his best to comfort Softsong, for it was her loss ever more so than his own. It was then that Skyblade inherited the position of Master Blade Singer and he promised that he would carry out the job with as much dedication and skill as his predecessor.

Over time Skyblade's stern demeanor and discipline, coupled with his sense of honor and duty towards Descantia forged him into a fine leader, eventually developing an ease for the role and its responsibilities. Only two short years after her parents' deaths, Softsong became the Meistersinger of all Descantia. Skirmishes with the typical hostiles of the valley were common over the years, but otherwise Descantia enjoyed a prosperous time. Skyblade's relationship with Softsong grew ever deeper and shortly after a devastating attack by Dragonmen on the elven home, Skyblade lifemated Softsong and she became pregnant, out of recognition. Only a few months later, the High Ones saw fit to recognize Skyblade with another House Harmony, Rosestone. Skyblade railed emotionally against the development for a time, loathing the idea of sharing a bed with anyone but his love and lifemate. With his health and that of Rosestone's in the balance, Skyblade was inevitably forced to relent. Skyblade took no pleasure from the encounter beyond the relief of its completion, and he returned to Softsong immediately following to assure her of his continued and ardent devotion.

During the course of Softsong's pregnancy, the keep suffered another attack, this time by mammoth tunneling bugs. She was forced to utilize magic to help repel the attack and the effort put great strain on her body and their unborn child. When Joylight was born, it was found that she lacked the sense of sight. Nevertheless, she was their love and pride. Bladeheart was born to Skyblade by Rosestone shortly after, and though the forced transgression weighed on Skyblade's conscious, he loved his son all the same as his daughter.

Skyblade fell into his role as father almost as easily as he had Master Bladesinger and he spent as much time as he could allow with both his children. Softsong eventually shared her soulname with him. She harbored some insecurities not sharing his soulname when so many others did. Despite feeling vulnerable with his name so freely known, Skyblade made the decision to give Softsong his soulname, thinking of no one he'd trust it with more. Less than two years after Bladeheart's birth, his mother fell ill and passed away quickly. Skyblade and his family mourned her death and Bladeheart live with them permanently, becoming even closer to his sibling, Joylight, and growing up with Softsong as his mother.

Coloring/Appearance: Whitefire is a white tiger, and stands 5 feet tall and eleven feet long. He weighs in at 900 lbs, a strong, swift hunting mount. Whitefire's eyes are a golden color that gives them the appearance of liquid amber.

Personality: Whitefire is considered as haughty, if not more so, as the lions of Descantia, being the undisputed Alpha Male of the Descantia pride. He is unerringly loyal to Skyblade and has proved an excellent ear to talk to when the need arises. Whitefire is highly regarded as one of the best hunting cats of Descantia.

Relationship: Whitefire and Skyblade are close companions. Whitefire tends to stay with Skyblade whenever possible.

Coloring/Appearance: Sunglitter's head and body are a shimmering gold color. The tips of Sunglitter's wing feathers are a light brown. Sunglitter has a short, light brown beard beneath his beak.

Personality: Sunglitter is flighty. He is a loyal mount but he also prefers his freedom.

Relationship: Skyblade and Sunglitter are excellent friends, Skyblade recognizes Sunglitter's excellent help and in return, recognizes Sunglitter's precious freedom. They hold a mutual respect for each other.
